Premiere of ballet «In dim figures» by Maxim Sevagin to the music of Antonio Vivaldi will take place on 4 and 5 of April. The ballet was staged for the first time in the autumn of 2022 at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Tchaikovsky.
«I always wanted to put the play on baroque music. Baroque music has an incredible feature – it is very danceable. The melodies, polyphony and clear structure of the composition help the imagination to work and guide it. I decided to look for something new for myself and for the ballet stage and found two absolutely stunning string concertos by Antonio Vivaldi», – says the choreographer.
«In dim figures» is an ode to the director’s love for ballet, a search for eternal symbols and images of ballet art, «appearing from a huge space options and going back in the dark».
There are 9 performers the play – five girls and four boys – and six musical parts consisting of ensemble fragments, a duet, a quartet and a trio.
Jiri Kylian’s ballet «Petite Mort» was performed on the enchanting music of two slow pieces from Mozart’s piano concerts and was first shown at the Salzburg Festival in 1991. The ballet for six men, six women and six rapiers is a brilliant example of a complete fusion of music and choreography.
The performances of Ohad Naharin are loved by spectators and artists all over the world. In «Minus 16» the choreographer destroys the boundary between the stage and the hall, makes the audience not only witnesses, but also participants of the performance. Starting the first Russian production of the Naharin ballet, the artists of the ballet company mastered the dance language Gaga, developed by the Israeli choreographer, with interest and now ready to share the joy of the opening with the Moscow audience.
