Maxim Sevagin / Akram Khan / Sharon Eyal

Maxim Sevagin’s Death, the Fairest is inspired by Alberto Ginastera’s Harp Concerto. The plot of the ballet is based on an Argentine fairy tale. In collaboration with designer Anastasia Nefyodova and lighting designer Konstantin Binkin chorographer developed a folk proverb into the dynamic ballet. The story takes place on a spaceship, where the heroes just like Noah’s family hade safely escaped from the collapsing Earth and found peace in art.

Akram Khan is one of the most famous dancers and choreographers of our time. His reputation is based on the success of experimental, but at the same time understandable to the general public, works such as Until the Lions: Echoes from the Mahabharata, iTMOi, DESH etc. His first full-length ballet KAASH premiered in 2002. The starting points for the creation of this performance were “hindu deities, black holes, Indian time cycles, tabla, creation and destruction”. This production represents сhoreographer’s desire to connect the worlds of modern dance and Indian classical dance “Kathak”.

According to the creator, Autodance is woven from the very essence of the movement in all its purity and clarity. The dancers appear to be asexual and the focus shifts to the movements of their legs. In the space of Autodance, dance, the technique of its implementation and music in the genre of “techno” organically merge: this is a solid, visually rich and precisely constructed spectacle. In 2022 Oksana Kardash was awarded by Golden Mask in the nomination “Ballet /female role” for performing the solo in Autodance.
