“Introduction to the Orchestra” is a public favorite performance for the whole family in the chamber space of the MAMT Small Stage, where the distance between the audience and the artists is reduced to a minimum. The performance includes the symphonic fairy tale “Peter and the Wolf” by Sergei Prokofiev and the suite “Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saens. The Narrator introduces the guests of the theater and the orchestra.
“Petya and the Wolf” was composed in 1936 by the outstanding Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. Each character of the fairy tale is represented by his own musical instrument and his own motive. The narrator helps to follow the development of the plot. The words for it were written by the composer himself.
The Carnival of the Animals suite was created in 1886 by the famous French composer Camille Saint-Saens. He came up with the idea to depict in music the various characters of people and animals similar to them. The guests of the carnival will be various animals: big and small, fast and slow, wild and domestic. Musical instruments will help us to present them: violins, violas, cellos, double basses, flute, clarinet, xylophone, bells and two solo pianos.
The play “Introduction to the Orchestra” is an educational program for the whole family. Viewers over 6 years of age are allowed to the screenings accompanied.
